After the giant scare, they monitored us closely. At our 36 week appointment we had an NST, at our 37 week appointment we had an ultrasound that showed our baby girl had grown. Her growth was good but they still wanted her out because she was still measuring small, her head still being the smallest. They also did an exam and I measured 1 centimeter and 50% effaced, this did seem to start some mild contractions. We scheduled our induction at this appointment as well, we would go in on the 18th at 11pm and start from there.
I woke up at 4am on Wednesday the 18th and couldn't get back to sleep, my mind was racing and our baby would be here soon. I started showing signs of labor around 5am but needed to make it past 1pm for a conference call for work. Danny was home with me and B was at school, he cleaned while I laid on the couch and worked. We had dinner at our neighborhood spot with Alex, Diana and Parker before we took B to Grammy's. Dropping her off was heartbreaking, I was leaving my first baby, the one who made me a Mommy. Our lives were about to change in major ways and I was so worried about how she would be affected. Danny and I went home and relaxed and talked about the anxiety of this birth. It was so different from the unknown with Braelyn.

| Our last picture before leaving for the hospital |
On our drive to the hospital Danny mentioned how different it was this time, last time my water broke and this time I could just feel mild contractions. I had felt them all day but didn't think they were close enough together or strong enough to be doing anything. We walked through the ED entrance and headed to labor and delivery, on the walk the contractions seemed to get a little stronger. We got to labor and delivery and they brought us back to delivery room 3, had me change into the gown, started my IV and put the monitors on. The monitors showed I was contracting every 3 minutes - I was in labor on my own! They said to just keep walking and we would see how things progressed. We walked from 12:30 to 2am after I was 2.5 centimeters, 70% effaced and so sleepy. We decided to rest for a couple hours and see how things progressed. At 4:15am they came back to check everything and let me know they wanted to start pitocin at 5am. After we walked and bounced on the labor ball while the contractions got closer together and stronger but at 9:30am I was still only 2.5 centimeters and 80% effaced. At 10am I decided on an epidural, I just couldn't get myself to relax enough on my own. They mentioned Dr. Python would be in to see me around lunch and would discuss breaking my water - around 12:15pm my water broke on its own and I was 8 centimeters dilated. By 2pm I was 9.5 centimeters and feeling a ton of pressure when both Avalyn and my heart rate dropped and a few more nurses came in but we quickly recovered and I was ready to push. At 3:32am after about 17 minutes of pushing Avalyn James Sax came quietly squeaking into our world. She was put directly on my chest while we recovered and shortly after Daddy cut her cord and went to the side of the room with them to have footprints and measurements done.
